My take on the Apple iMac, Mac Pro and Cinema Display updates

On 16th July 2010, www.macrumors.com predicted that the new iMac and Mac Pro range would get USB 3.0 and Firewire 1600. These are powerful features, when the new range was launched today, both these features were missing from the new models.

Instead, the new iMac range got an upgraded graphics card, higher speed Ram and an advanced SDXC slot – none of which were predicted by any of the rumor mongers.

Permanent solution to the India – Pakistan problem

In the absence of any intelligent solution being proposed by anyone else, I humbly offer to solve the problem between Pakistan and India – once and for all.

The Indian media and the Indian government are obsessed with Pakistan – constantly highlighting how Pakistan is a problem for India. The Indian public in general doesn’t bother- unless the Pakistan cricket team defeats the Indian one – that’s all we care about…

Airtel : Harassing customers

We bought a prepaid cell phone number from their relationship center in Dwarka, New Delhi on 27th June 2010. Copies of my PAN card, AIrtel Landline phone bill as address proof, driving license as my ID proof, the required application form and money were submitted and verified by the agents. As promised, the cellphone activated on 29th June 2010 and was working. On 13th July, I received the following SMS from Airtel – “As per Govt of India directive, documents received for your Airtel Prepaid Mobile are incomplete and your services will be discontinued. Kindly contact the Airtel Relationship Center or the Dealer from where you purchased your Airtel Mobile immediately”. Immediately after that, the cellphone service died.

Taking screenshots on a Mac

The most commonly use key combination for me is Command + Crtl + Shift + 4. This combination turns the mouse pointed into a cross which shows screen pixel count as we move it around. With a mouse drag, I can select the area that I want to capture on the screen – while I drag, the cross shows pixel count of selected area.
